What is the mission of the N.F.A.B?Our mission is the promotion and encouragement of firearms safety and knowledge amongst the citizens of the Bahamas. Moreover, with a view toward the importance and benefits of firearms ownership for a better understanding of the safe use, handling, marksmanship, proper care and storage of firearms & importance of law and abiding by it, through proper training, policies and certification standards. What is the National Firearms Association Bahamas - N.F.A.B?National Firearms Association Bahamas is an education and training Non-profit (Certification #892) NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), that is dedicated to teaching in the areas of personal, home protection and security, crime prevention, women’s empowerment & protections, active violence/shooter response training and firearms safety & knowledge to people of the Bahamas. Who can join the N.F.A.B?Anyone.... The organization is open to people of all races, genders, religious backgrounds, sexual orientation, and political views.

Who can train?For non-firearms course anyone at any age can train. When course dates are set instructors will list age limits and other related requirements. For Firearms training, you must have a firearms license, or have been approved for a license/special license the the firearms licensing authority of the Bahamas. Parents with firearms licenses with teen 13 - 17 can enroll in our firearm safety orientation program.

Can you help me get a firearm?We DO NOT purchase, sell or license firearms. We can assist you with information on how to purchase a firearm locally or internationally, and how to apply for you firearms license. ALL persons seeking to own a firearm in the Bahamas, MUST obtain a firearms license. Person must apply to the firearms division of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

What type firearms do you offer training for?Working with our training partners we offer multi-level training for Non-Lethal Firearms and Lethal Firearms Pistol (Semi-Auto & Revolvers) Rifles (All Types) Shotgun (All Types) Our training ranges from new beginners to elite law enforcement. Where are your instructors trained?Instructors are international training and certified by organization like the NRA, EUSA, US federal government & UK special forces ‘at-arms” programs. They possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through training and hands-on shooting experience. Instructors complete many hours of training on the range and in the classroom an are intimately familiar with each firearm type in the discipline they are certified. We are also developing a local instructor training programs for Bahamian wishing to develop their skills as Range Safety Officers, Firearms Coach & Instructors.

Do you offer training for security personell?Yes! We'll be introducing multi-level security training and certifications.

Do I need to own a firearm to join the N.F.A.B?No.. You do not need to own a firearm to join the National Firearm Association Bahamas. We have many seminars and event that does not require a firearm. However a firearm is required for the cetifications and trainings that includes use and shooting of a firearm. Priority will be given to persons who do own a licensed firearm.

Can I get Law Enforcement training?Our law enforcement training division is dedciated to active law enforcement only. This includes agencies under the Bahamas National Security Authority. Royal Bahamas Police Force Bahamas Customs Department Department of Corrections Bahamas Immigration Persons must be registered and approved for Law Enforcement training.

Are you a part of the government?NO! The National Firearms Association Bahamas is a Non-Governmental Organization. However we do plan to partner with the government on many initiatives.

Is this a self-defense course?This is a personal safety program that teaches strategies you can use to avoid situations where self-defense may be required. This course focuses on proactive courses of action, rather than reactive. By making yourself more difficult target to prey upon, you lessen your risk of a criminal attack. That means having a personal safety strategy in place before you need it.

Do Refuse To Be A Victim® seminars include firearm training?Firearm training is not part of the Refuse To Be A Victim® curriculum. The National Firearms Association Bahamas has other courses that focus on firearm training and can be taken separately. Visit www.nfa.org.bs for more information.

Who can attend the seminar?The Refuse To Be A Victim® seminar covers topics that can pertain to anyone. The information covered is appropriate for young adults to senior citizens. The program materials also include a special teaching module for parents, which discusses tips for children ages pre-school to high school. Women-only and college seminars are also available.

Can I arrange a private seminar for my club, group, community or church?Refuse To Be A Victim® instructors are available to work with your school, family, group, church, civic or government organizations and community. Please contact with your requests.

What is the requirement for the shotgun course in the Bahamas ?You must have a firearms license for a shotgun registered to you in The Bahamas. Complete the NFAB registration process and pay the course fee.

How long will it take to complete the course?The course takes approximately 8 - 10 hours to complete both theory and practical segments. With exams at the end of each segment. You have up to 1 week to re-take your theory exam if you fail the first time.

How do I receive my certificate?Once you complete the course and take the theory & practical exam, you must score 90% in order to receive your certificate. If you do not pass the exam on your first try – RELAX! You will have 3 additional opportunities to retake the exam and pass.

How much does it cost?The cost for the course is $150.00 for members and $200.00 for non-members. You must be approved and registered to take this course.
